Summary: The Alocasia ‘Black Zebrina’ is a bold statement plant with glossy, arrow-shaped leaves and zebra-striped stems that bring exotic drama to any space. A must-have for design lovers seeking a modern, tropical aesthetic perfectly suited for European interiors.

✨ Why You'll Love the Alocasia ‘Black Zebrina’

  • Elegant dark green leaves with a subtle metallic sheen and graphic contrast stems.
  • Unique black-and-cream patterned petioles—each one beautifully different.
  • Compact yet architectural form—ideal for minimalist or Scandinavian-style apartments.
  • Thrives in warm, bright rooms and instantly elevates your plant collection.
  • Quick stats: Height ~45 cm | Pot Ø 14 cm | Medium-sized tropical statement plant.

🌞 Light & Placement

Place in bright, indirect light to maintain its bold coloring and steady growth. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch its leaves. Perfect for bright living rooms, kitchens, or home offices across Germany and the EU.

💧 Water & Humidity

Keep the soil consistently moist but never soggy. Allow the top 2–3 cm to dry between waterings. Loves high humidity (60–80%)—mist regularly or group with other tropical plants for best results.

🪴 Soil & Potting

Use an airy, well-draining soil mix rich in coco coir, bark, and perlite. A pot with good drainage is essential to prevent root rot. Repot annually in spring as new growth begins.

🐾 Toxicity & Safety

Not pet-safe. Like most Alocasias, its sap can irritate the mouth and skin if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.

🌱 Growth & Propagation

Grows upright to about 60 cm indoors. Produces new leaves regularly in the growing season. Propagate via division when repotting—carefully separate offsets with healthy roots.

📆 Seasonal & Special Care

During autumn and winter, growth slows. Reduce watering and avoid cold drafts. In spring, resume feeding with a diluted houseplant fertilizer every 3–4 weeks to encourage new leaves.

🐛 Common Issues

  • Yellowing leaves → overwatering or low light.
  • Leaf droop → cold temperatures or inconsistent watering.
  • Watch for spider mites or aphids in dry air—wipe leaves and mist often.

🧬 Botanical Background

The Alocasia ‘Black Zebrina’ is a rare hybrid from Southeast Asia, admired for its striking zebra-striped stems and velvety leaves. A proud member of the Araceae family, it adapts beautifully to the humid, warm conditions of European homes when given the right care.

Dragons
Format: Paperback
I can only say WOWS again—Casey Grimes wasn’t in this but others from the previous book where. Can’t wait to read the next book—will there be dragons in it—the previous books keep mentioning dragons and this book was excellent—I am going to hate when I run out of this series

Kansas City Dragon Business
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
This novel reveals a little-known part of Kansas City’s past—in the 1930s it was running a brisk dragon hatching, renting and sales business! Fast forward 80 or 90 years after the operation was shut down by the city—and be amazed! A suburban family with four boys moves into a 100-year old house in Crossroads of KC and into the adventure of their lives. Add a talking lizard and a trash-talking wizard out of the past, and you have a tale funny, terrifying, and thought-provoking all at once. I hope to see this in every bookstore window in Kansas City!
